Furniture Works St Thomas Street

We’ve got some exciting news from the Futureworks NY team!

Our brand new retail outlet and workshop space opened earlier this autumn at 39 St Thomas Street, Scarborough. Our usual opening hours are 10am to 4pm Monday to Saturday.

Furniture Works 2

With the announcement of Lockdown 2, we are available online, our new facebook page will be up and running soon and you can also click and collect.

Due to government restrictions, our retail area to the front of the shop will be closed just for now. The workshop will be operational at the rear where pre-owned, upcycled furniture furniture, skilfully restored and upcycled by the Futureworks NY team.

We had the idea back in March just before Lockdown 1. We’ve always wanted to make more of our furniture upcycling, which has a number of benefits including recycling of donated furniture items, preventing items going to landfill and giving your learners a chance to show off the skills they learn with us here at Futureworks NY.

We feel Furniture Works will be a great contribution to Scarborough’s retail landscape as well as giving customers a chance to buy a lovely furniture item at an affordable price.

We  also have our bespoke furniture transformation service, when a customer can ask us to put some love and care into a beloved furniture item and make it look as good, if not better than new!

Covid measures include just 2 customers in the shop at one time, sanitisers are in place and face masks must be worn and will be in place again once we can reopen the retail area.

The Matrix Comes to Futureworks NY

Here at Futureworks NY we’ve been awarded the coveted Matrix quality standard for information advice and guidance services – hurrah!

It’s been give to us by Growth Company on behalf of the Department of Education, in recognition of the quality of work we all do.

Michelle  said: “We are delighted with the news! The conditions of the accreditation are rigorous, and we had to submit evidence, sample records, attend Zoom meetings and send in lots of other documentation as part of the assessment process.”

Sarah  said: “We worked very hard to set up Futureworks NY, which we founded in 2012 and this accreditation is testament to all the hard work that is carried out by the whole team.”

The report states: “Throughout the ‘client/learner journey’, there is a range of opportunities and ‘touch points’ for interaction and dialogue with clients/learners, from the first point of contact and initial assessment and continuously for the duration of their programme of support.

“Over a sustained period of year, Futureworks has worked successfully towards the achievement of a range of measurable targets and outcomes across contracts and programmes of support … they achieved in excess of 50% into employment, education or training … Futureworks is a totally person centred organisation where staff are fully focused on supporting clients/learners towards achieving their goals, positive outcomes and aspirations.”

The assessors our strengths included its overall purpose, its strong links with its prime and other networking partners and all staff consistently supported individuals in a non-judgemental manner.

Well done team!
