Community Works is an exciting project funded by the Big Lottery and is unique to the Scarborough area
We run a series of workshops during which young adults (aged 18 to 25 years) have the opportunity to learn practical learning skills in a variety of areas including furniture restoration/upcycling and DIY skills.
We support our learners from the start and help them gain new and practical skills while building confidence in a stimulating environment.
Learners are fully supported during the sessions which take place at regular intervals throughout the year.
There is also occasional qualification opportunities. Please get in touch for more information.
The sessions are run by tutors who have many years’ experience of working with young people.
The project is open to everyone aged 18-25 and there are no minimum requirements to join.
An exciting opportunity to buy a bespoke piece of furniture created by our young people at budget prices.
Pieces can be bought through our Facebook Page or call to discuss having your existing furniture upcycled.
If you have any pieces you wish to donate, we can pick up and drop off too.

How it works
The work is rewarding and could be anything from a small household task to larger community project. Community Works aims to make every learner feel valued through in-depth support and guidance. Everyone accessing the project has the same opportunities to thrive and improve their future prospects. Learners will be supported to fulfil their potential and challenge their own abilities.
